Lord, I know too much.

I pour my heart out to you

in other people's words

because I know them

but my own heart

I know not.

I am filled

with facts,

quotations,

commentaries

and books about prayer.

Where does this knowledge end

and my faith begin?

I am afraid

that when my knowledge

is stripped away

by illness or death

there will be nothing left.

Lord,

please drive out

the books

from this temple

as you once cleared

another Temple.

Fill this heart

with your Glory,

so I can know you.
